Arabian Racing Cup Stakes 2014-2016 Archive

The Arabian Racing Cup is pleased to once again be able to reward breeders for their efforts of bringing outstanding, athletic Arabians to the racetrack.

Return of Cup Stakes and Breeder Rewards

The Arabian Racing Cup weathered the economic downturn and returned to rewarding breeders for their efforts. On October 18, 2014, the pair of $20,000 Guaranteed Grade 3 Stallion Stakes at Lone Star Park received sponsorship from the Arabian Racing Cup, serving to launch the ARC's campaign to reintroduce the Cup to the United States.

ARABIAN RACING CUP STAKES IN PLEASANTON CALIFORNIA 2015

The Arabian Racing Cup S., contested at Oak Tree in Pleasanton on June 21, is the first in a series of races the Cup supported in 2015. In addition to the $4,000 in sponsorship money that was added to the purse, the Cup presented Breeders Incentive payouts directly to the breeders of the first, second and third place finishers in the Arabian Racing Cup Stakes.

In the $14,000 added race, Sand Victor, owned by breeder Joe and Betty Gillis and trained by Osman Villalta, stalked the pacesetter along the inside, advanced to the front and then drew clear to win by 3 lengths over Ayers in second and Twice Rich in third. Both of these horses were owned by Warren Shelley and trained by his wife Helen Shelley. The final time for the 6 furlongs was a quick 1:19.58.

The breeders of the top three finishers split $1,000 in Breeder Incentive awards. Congratulations to all the connections of these fine horses. It was paid as follows:

ARABIAN RACING CUP GIVES BREEDER INCENTIVE AWARDS IN DELAWARE

$2,500 Arabian Racing Cup’s Breeder Incentive awards were added to various stakes races at Delaware Park in 2015. Breeder Incentive payouts go directly to the breeders of first ($1,000), second ($800) and third ($700) place finishers in each race. Congratulations to the recipients.

ARABIAN RACING CUP DERBY at LOS ALAMITOS

The Arabian Racing Cup Derby, contested at Los Alamitos on September 26, was the last in a series of races the Cup supported in 2015. In addition to the $4,000 in sponsorship money that was added to the purse, the Cup awarded Breeder’s Incentive payouts directly to the breeders of the first ($500), second ($300) and third ($200) place finishers in the Arabian Racing Cup Derby. Congratulations to all who earned this additional Breeder's Incentive from Arabian Racing Cup.

Results of ARABIAN RACING CUP STALLION STAKES in Texas 2014

Congratulations to the Winners VALIANT BOY SBFAR and RB BURN BABY BURN.

Texas Arabian Breeders Association and Lone Star Park were instrumental in attracting a top class group of Arabian racehorses for these two Grade 3 stakes events for Arabian horses. Arabian Racing Cup provided an additional bonus of $1,000 outside of the actual purse money to breeders of the horses who finished first, second, and third- each being awarded $500, $300, and $200 respectively. Stewards of the Cup also organized a great night of camaraderie in the upper level suite at the racetrack for all owners, trainers, fans and friends to enjoy. Chief Steward Denise Gault and other stewards Michelle Morgan and Sam Vasquez were hosts at the event.

July 29 ~ Our second race in 2016 awarding Cup Breeder Incentive Funds was held at the Santa Rosa racetrack at Sonoma County Fairgrounds, California

Our 2nd race in the ARC CUP BREEDERS INCENTIVE AWARDS program went off today with a 7 horse competitive field. It was for 3 year olds and up who had not yet won 4 races, or optionally any horse who would run for a claiming price of $5000. No claiming horses entered, and the 6 furlong race was won in a speedy 1:19.54. Winning today was Raineing Sand (Grey Horse, by BURNING SAND out of PS STINAS SAGE, by Kezoram+. Foaled April 29, 2011 in Tennessee), bred by Felix Payne, owned by Warren Shelley, and trained by Helen Shelley. 2nd was Zells Bells (Bay Gelding by S W ZELL out of BONITA LORENA, by Wiking. Foaled February 16, 2009 in Texas), bred by Jane Teutsch, owned and trained by Robert Irando; and finishing 3rd was Jess Is On Fire (Grey Gelding by VAZS BURNING DESTINY out of BANDERS NAOMI KU, by Bandera KA.
